Nell’Ipswich Journal del 27 ottobre 1849 si legge di un regalo della signora A.H. Smith: Mrs A.H. Smyth fully grown pinna nobilis from the Sardinian shore with its byssus or beard and a glove manufactured from the byssus of this species.
