Sea silk, plain right knit.

This tie was knitted by Marianica Merreu Orrù from Sant’Antioco. It is part of the exhibition about the processing of sea silk in the Museo etnographico of Sant’Antioco. It was first shown outside Sardinia at the exhibition Bisso marino – fili d’oro dal fondo del mare 2008/09 in Lugano.

The Museo etnografico of the Cooperativa Archeotur in Sant’Antioco shows the whole process of sea silk processing, from harvesting the fan shell till the weaving.
