Dark yellow velvety background, with sea- silk and gold thread embroidery, about 200 cm x 100 cm


This tapestry is a work of students of the R.S. Femminile in Taranto. It was shown on December 21st, 1927 at the Mostra Internazionale di Economia Domestica in Rome - «su disegni di propria creazione», as written on the exhibition stand (Campi, 2005).

It now hangs in the entrance hall of the Istituto tecnico Maria-Pia in Taranto. There is also a bust of the school founder Martellotta Filomena, who played an important role in the history of the sea-silk in Taranto in the first half of the 20th century.
