Two ties

Two ties, 19th century, I-Taranto. I-Florence, Museo Zoologico La Specola (MS Inventory 44 and 45)

Sea-silk knitted (or crocheted?), with fringes, visible side patterned

These two ties were purchased in 1868 in Taranto by the entomologist Adolfo Targioni Tozzetti (1823-1902), together with the gloves (MS Inventory 42). His collection became later part of the museum La Specola in Florence. Up to closer scrutiny by Sergio Flore (2005), these two ties were mentioned as belts.
